It's important that you choose the right car to maximize your own comfort and enjoyment when driving in the USA. The car size comparisons and suggested capacity are for your guidance only. The number indicated does not necessarily mean that an equivalent number of passengers and pieces of baggage can be accommodated comfortably on a touring holiday. Upgrading your car locally in the USA will cost you more than pre-booking a larger car in the UK. If an infant seat is used, please note that this will take up the space of one full seat in the rear of the vehicle.

Rates include unlimited mileage, Third Party Insurance, Supplemental Liability Insurance up to $1million, Loss Damage Waiver, Under or Uninsured Motorist Protection, License& Fees, Road Tax and Airport Surcharges. Please note, these rates do not apply to holders of US Issued drivers licences.

A valid credit card will be required for all rentals.

The minimum age for all permitted drivers is 21 years old, unless prohibited by state law. A charge of $20.00 per day ($35.00 in New York) applies to all drivers aged between 21 - 24 years old.All drivers must hold a valid National driving license and have done do for at least one full year prior to a rental. An international driving license is not required, but is recommended.

Baby Seats (required by law in some States) $5.00 per day + Tax.Infant Seats (required by law in some States) $5.00 per day + Tax.Ski Racks $5.00 per day + Tax.

Additional drivers are charged locally at $6.00 per day + Tax. Please note, unlimited additional drivers for Platinum rentals only.

Child Seat Rental (on Request) = $5.00 per day.
Ski Rack (on Request) = $5.00 per day
(Please Note! Ski racks are only available on Economy to Full-size vehicles.)

Young Driver Charge ( 21 - 24yrs) = $20.00 per day.

Drivers wishing to drop off their hire car at a location other than where the vehicle is to be rented will be liable for a "One Way Fee" based on the distance, in miles, between the two depots.

One way fees are subject to local taxes.

0 - 200 miles $50.00
201 - 500 miles $100.00
501 - 1000 miles $300.00
Over 1000 miles $500.00

These fees do not apply to One Way Rentals within the states of California or Florida.

International One Way rentals are not permitted.

Cars may travel into Canada or Mexico, by prior arrangement only, and from a select number of rental depots, (additional insurance may be required) but must return to a rental location in the USA. It is the responsibility of the Renter to inform the rental depot of their intention to cross a border during the period of hire. Failure to comply will render in all insurance cover null & void.

Cars are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. Failure to comply with this condition may result in a service charge in addition to fuel charges. Please note this does not apply to Platinum rentals.

Dollar Rent a Car currently make Customer Facility Charges in the following depots. These charges are made by all car rental companies in these locations and are usually made for the maintenance of car rental facilities.

Naples, FL - $ 2.50 per day (up to max of $17.50)
Pensacola - $ 1.05 per day
Fort Myers - $ 1.00 per day

California
Oakland - $ 10.00 per rental

Arizona
Phoenix - $ 3.50 per day

Nevada
Reno - $ 2.00 per day

These are charged locally and are subject to local taxes.

New Domestic Security Charge
A new domestic security charge of $ 2.00 per day will be payable locally on all rentals for collection at Newark International Airport.

New Jersey - $ 2.00 per day

A valid credit card only will be accepted as security in order to collect a hire vehicle. Cash or Charge card deposits will not be accepted.

A charge of £25.00GBP may apply in the event of any amendment or cancellation of any confirmed reservation.
